Malik and Nurse Bettie
It truly takes a village, and we sure love our nurse, Bettie. She is part of our family and her being with him allows me to also work as a nurse with Aveanna. She has loved my other children and now even my grandchildren. We appreciate her and Aveanna not just during Nurses Week but every day.

Nurse Kim - Franklin
My name is Kim & I’m a nurse case manager with the amazing Franklin, TN team. I’ve been with Aveanna for 2 years & a nurse for almost 24 years. I started my nursing career in labor & delivery where I spent 16 years. I never imagined pursuing another nursing path. In 2015, my mom opted for hospice care at home. I had a general knowledge of hospice, but had no idea that the care my mom & our family received would have such an influence on my life. I told my mom, “I think I’m being called to hospice nursing” to which she replied, “yes you are.” A month after she passed, I began my career in hospice & I’ve never looked back. The care I provide means the world to me! It’s why I became a nurse - to make a difference. Providing compassionate, knowledgeable care to my patients & their loved ones is beyond rewarding. To allow another human being a comfortable & peaceful passing is beautiful. In the words of Ram Dass, “We are all just walking each other home.” I’m so thankful to do what I love with Aveanna & my incredible coworkers. Learning from our amazing medical director & my colleagues has not only enriched my career, but my life. I truly feel our care encompasses all of Aveanna’s core values - compassion, team integrity, inclusion, trust, innovation & compliance. I often say, “I don’t HAVE to go to work, but I GET to go to work.” I may bless my patients, but more often they bless me. Pursuing a nursing career in hospice is one of the greatest decisions I’ve ever made.
Nurse Marquita - Shelton
I BELIEVE that the POWER of my CARE lies in my experience & education. As a member of the healthcare field for almost 20 years, I have learned so much, but my last 7 years as an LPN at Aveanna have encouraged me to receive my Associate’s Degree in Nursing!!! Next week, I GRADUATE!!! Aveanna, my patient, & the family have all been so supportive throughout this journey. I have studied my patient’s condition and equipped myself with the necessary knowledge & skills to provide the most safe and efficient care possible. I understand the Plan of Care & I have no problem with educating my patient, the family, & my coworkers. The more you share, the more you receive & after all, “Knowledge is power!” I thank Aveanna for supporting my education!!! Onward & upward…

Nurse Edna and Treacy
Hello, my name is Edna. I have been with Aveanna for 3years, I believe in compassionate care. I vividly remember an elderly patient I admitted with multiple chronic conditions and was feeling incredibly overwhelmed. He was anxious, scared, and struggling to cope with his illness. I demonstrate compassion by actively listening to my patients and putting myself in their position, thinking how I would like to be treated or a loved one who was in that position. It is always important to try to understand the patients and their families so we can address their concerns properly. As I show compassion by understanding that each patient is different, and they have different situations that are specific to their needs. Something I deal with all the time is having patients who are elderly and a lot of time they live alone and do not have anyone to talk to, so I believe by providing them with a listening ear and making them feel heard and cared for can go a long way in improving their overall well-being.
